MUFY Celebrates 20 Years of Excellence at Graduation Night

It was a double celebration as Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) Sunway College KL honoured the achievements of over 500 students and celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre on 19 July 2019. MUFY at Sunway College KL started in 1999 with 23 students and has grown by leaps and bounds to over 1200 students in 2019.

Among the esteemed guests who graced this momentous event were Dr. Elizabeth Lee, CEO of Sunway Education Group, Ms. Jo Mithen, CEO of Monash College, Professor Andrew Walker, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia, Ms. Bernadine Caruana of the Australian High Commission, Professor Graeme Wilkinson, Vice-Chancellor of Sunway University, Ms. Cheng Mien Wee, Director of Pre-University Studies, Sunway College KL, Mr. Lee Thye Cheong, Director of MUFY, representatives of Yayasan Peneraju and Board Members of Monash College.

The event kicked off with a flash mob by MUFY staff and students and an elaborate pyrotechnics show. Dr. Elizabeth Lee and Ms. Jo Mithen then signed a digital plaque and the special guests went on stage for a cake cutting ceremony.

Through the night, guests were entertained with mesmerising performances from MUFY alumni and video presentations highlighting MUFY’s journey over the last 20 years.

The celebration continued with the graduating class of July 2019 receiving their certificates and awards. 

In the June 2019 examinations, MUFY at Sunway College KL was top in 23 out of 24 subjects among all MUFY providers worldwide. Jessie Koh Jie Xin received the MUFY Excellence Award for achieving the highest average score of 99.93% among all MUFY providers worldwide. 103 students received the Monash University High Achiever Award Scholarship for achieving an average score of 89% and above.
