Sunway University Leaps High in Rankings Despite the Global Pandemic

The University has gone up in nearly all of its indicators with the number of “International Faculty”, the number of “International Students” as well as “Employer Reputation” being ranked within the top 100 and “International Research Networks” and “Faculty Student Ratio” within the top 125.

Sunway University’s stable and steady upward growth trajectory is due to the University fostering a strong and collaborative research culture and its broad range of employment focused programmes through its innovative, holistic and interdisciplinary curriculum in the arts and humanities, business, computing, engineering and technology, healthcare, hospitality, mathematical sciences and sustainable development.

The rankings saw 36 Malaysian universities competing against a total of 687 universities in the region and Sunway University’s ranks number 11 in all of Malaysia.

Already in its 14th edition, the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2022 features 687 universities in 18 locations across Asia.

“This year’s results reiterate the intensely competitive, intensely dynamic nature of Asian higher education. China’s best universities continue to progress, Japanese higher education is stagnating — and Malaysia remains on the rise,” said Ben Sowter, Director of Research at QS.

“The most-represented location is Mainland China (126 ranked universities), followed by India (118), Japan (108), South Korea (88), Pakistan (47), Taiwan (46), Malaysia (36), Indonesia (33), Thailand (23), Philippines (15), Vietnam (11), Hong Kong S.AR. (9), Sri Lanka (6) Singapore (3), Brunei (2), Macau SAR (2), and Mongolia (1)."
