Stars Of The AUSMAT Reign!

AUSMAT was honoured to have the presence of Mr. Michael Growder, the Deputy High Commissioner, Australian High Commission Kuala Lumpur and other distinguished guests, lecturers and about 460 AUSMAT graduates as we celebrated their graduation and achievements. The night started off with the welcoming address by Ms Vanitha Satchithanadan, Assistant Director of the Pre-University Studies and Director of Programme, Australian Matriculation, encouraging speeches by Ms Gail Taylor, Principal Consultant – International Education of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, and Dr Elizabeth Lee, Chief Executive Officer, Sunway Education Group.

Before dinner was served, guests were entertained by a duet performance by Isaac Lui and Loh Jean Way, the two Vice Presidents of AUSMAT Student Council. As dinner was served, two videos showcasing the numerous activities organised and participated by AUSMAT graduates throughout the year including our very successful I-Care Run, Ausmazing Race, and project completed by the Engineering students. Charmaine Oon Zi Ting, the President of Student Council 2019, also shared her valuable experience with everyone. It always warms the hearts of many to see how experiences, good or bad, helps one to grow to be an exceptional individual. Well done, Charmaine!

A total of 103 awards were presented during the event. The first 79 awards in the following categories were presented. In between the award presentation, Lee Marsha and Jynn Kok serenaded two beautiful songs to the guest.

The celebration continued with musical performance by Izzat Zainir, Isaac Lui and Loh Jean Way, “The Very Best”, a song written and composed by Izzat Zainir solely for fellow Ausmates followed by the presentation of the Best Subject Awards to acknowledge top scoring students in each ATAR subject. A summary of the AUSMAT awardees with the university sponsored book prize is as listed below. Awardees received their AUD200 worth of book prize sponsored by several Australian Universities.

The event followed by Highest Academic Achievement award and the Shield of Excellence award. High Academic Achievement Award is given to the individual who achieved the highest overall total score. This year the AUSMAT High Academic Achievement Award goes to Vincent Lau Han Leong, with AUD200 book prize sponsored by Victoria University (Melbourne). The Shield of Excellence is an award given to the student who not only excelled academically but also contributed significantly in extra-curricular activities and has shown impressive leadership qualities. This year the award goes to Vanessa Khoo Ming Yi. She received a book prize of AUD200 sponsored by University of Melbourne.

With that, AUSMAT Night 2019 came to a memorable end. It was a delightful night that was enjoyed by all. As the proud AUSMAT graduates take their next important step in pursuing their dreams, AUSMAT SCKL will continue to grow as one of the prestigious Pre-University programmes in Malaysia; a programme which provides a pathway to a brighter future.
